Jeff Setzer was born in Charlotte, NC to Mickey & Martha Setzer, and is a native to North Carolina.  In his early childhood, his parents didn’t attend church.  In his elementary years, he attended public schools in Charlotte and in Sherrills Ford after his family moved to Maiden, NC where his mom began to take him and his brother to church where he heard the Word of God and was saved at age 8 during a VBS.  He clearly remembers the time he told his parents and the moment he came up out of the water when he was baptized.  During his teen years, he attended Tabernacle Christian School in Hickory, NC. As a junior in high school, he clearly sensed the LORD’s call to preach while reading in Acts of Peter’s vision.  The LORD used verse 15 of chapter 10: “What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common” to speak to his heart.  After high school, he attended Pensacola Christian College where he graduated in 1986 with a BA in Bible (Greek minor).  During his college years, he had summer opportunities to travel with college music ensemble and a program called Neighborhood Bible Time.  In all, he travelled a summer and winter break with Pensacola Christian College (’84), three summers with NBT (’85, ’86, ’91), and he worked one summer at the WILDS Christian camp in North Carolina (’87). While teaching one year at Tabernacle Christian School in Hickory, NC, he began to travel with the Dave Kistler evangelistic team. As a result of travel to a church in TN, he was asked to serve as an assistant to Dr. Robert Settle at Liberty Baptist in Pigeon Forge, TN with summers free to travel, where he served in music and children’s ministry.  That summer (1992), the LORD brought into his life Heather Sheets and they were married on December 18, 1993.  Five months later, the LORD led them to Faith Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN where they served in youth, children’s, and music ministry for 3½ years before leaving to serve with the Kistler family to help with music, children’s ministry, and home schooling, while traveling on our their own during the summer.  It was during those two years that the LORD used a number of resources from different creation ministries to help the Setzers become acutely aware of the need for apologetics and creation evangelism.  As a result, they founded Creation Family Ministries in 2000 as a Biblical apologetics and evidence proclaiming work.  They travel in weekly meetings during the summer, using five themes for summer Family VBS meetings: Dino Might, Mountain Mysteries, Secrets of the Sea, Wilderness Wonders, and Jungle Tales.  They also conduct special Sundays, Saturday fellowships, an annual conference, revival meetings, and minister at fairs and through Facebook Live.  In 2017, they began SET Foundation Ministries as a joint effort with the vision of eventually serving as a sending agency for creation and apologetics missionaries.  In 2023, the LORD brought along Daniel and Sarah Ann O’Hara as co-laborers with SET.

Heather Setzer was born in Charlottesville, VA, March 2, 1971.  After her father, Ken Sheets, was saved when she was young, her family began attending church, and that is where Heather learned that she was a sinner who needed a Savior.  She was saved in a revival meeting in Kentucky at age 8, after hearing an evangelist preach on hell.  About age 11, while attending a missions conference, Heather made a decision to dedicate her life to the Lord for whatever service He chose.  Her “growing up” years were spent in Chattanooga, TN while her father was in seminary at Tennessee Temple.  It was during the time in Tennessee that Heather had the privilege of attending a Christian school.   After her junior year of high school, the family moved to Oregon where Heather finished her high school education through home schooling.  After graduating high school in 1987, she attended Tennessee Temple University for 2 years, and then transferred to Bob Jones University after her sophomore year to complete her degree in Elementary Education with a minor in music.  In 1992, she and Jeff met and were then married in December of 1993.  Jeff took an assistant pastorate in May of 1994 in Tennessee, where Heather was church secretary, church pianist, and taught piano.  After leaving Tennessee, they traveled with an evangelist while Heather home schooled 2 of the evangelist’s children for 2 years.  In 2000, she and Jeff began Creation Family Ministries, and Heather continues to help and support Jeff in this ministry, as well teaching and record keeping during vacation Bible schools all summer.  She loves teaching elementary age children and traveling!
