Beginning Again!
It is a great blessing to once again serve through a special meeting, this time having again Brother James Gardner, the very first speaker we had for a Sunday meeting back before our former pastor, Pastor Phil Vos, passed away in 2008 after a long bout with leukemia. His memorial service was held the day of our very first creation conference (Secrets of the Sea theme). Brother Gardner had been with us at Tabernacle Baptist Church of Hickory, NC perhaps in the year 2006.
It is as if we’ve come “full circle” back to our “beginning,” only this is like we’re beginning again. After the 2017 “handwriting on the wall” political wrangling with a new pastor at Tabernacle, we left that ministry and shoved to the “back burner” were any hopes we had for growing a local church-based ministry where folk truly see the need for creation truth and a team of excited participants assist in apologetics outreach. “With God all things are possible,” but it isn’t looking like an integrated church ministry will ever develop. We’ve not given up the thought, but it’s quite distant!
Brother Gardner is encouraging because he doesn’t have a “doctorate” and neither do I! Most of all, he has faithfully served our LORD for many years, and is an encouragement to us to do likewise! While our regular numbers are small, we are reminded that God is a God of using small numbers! He used King Saul’s son, Jonathan, and his armour bearer to bring about a great victory against Israel’s enemy. He used one apostle (Paul) to pen most of the New Testament. Down through church history, God has specialized in utilizing individuals and small groups to accomplish His will and make a difference. Such is encouraging to us today. There may not be large numbers with us, but “if God be for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31)
So, as long as the “Clergy Project Letter” exists, and Bible “scholars” of their ilk, we will continue fighting against the lies of evolution and for the creation truth!
